EdTalks

The most insightful information I took away from the EdTalks was to never assume anything. I will not be able to understand where the kids in my classroom are coming from. What they are dealing with inside and outside of school. Though, with that in mind, I must do my best to support the kids in my class. I will not push them or butt in where I am not needed, but simply create a welcoming environment, so they never feel lost.

Also, I gathered from the EdTalks that my current classmates also feel the same way about doing their best to provide for their students. It is relieving to know that I can have future allies to help me if I ever feel stuck in a situation with my students.

I think with all the books talked about and presented; I was able to see how the stories were not surrounded by school alone. The main characters in these stories saw school as a place where they could be seen. Therefore, I think it is important for myself as a future educator to do my best to never have my classroom feel so suffocating. I am not my student’s parent, but rather one building block in their support system.
